Hello
I'm beginner and i want to use PD for my master thesis. i have read PD tuterial and i followed the pdf step by step.
The problem is: agents ( passengers) in my work dont move up from steirs and esclators and as a result there is no connection between two floors.
i also check the transfer box in the connection setting group and set the ' layer from' and 'layer to' properties.
can you help me pleas, what can i do?

Could you please attach your model so we can check what's going wrong?

Hi,

The problem is the following: the entry and exit 6 & 7 are in heightlayer_1 not in heightlayer_2. So there's no need for the passengers to go upstairs as their destination is on the lower level.

To fix this:
- Acitvate HeightLayer_2 in the layer overview (you''ll get that overview by clicking the button Layers).
- Select the entryexit 6 & 7.
- Click the button selection and then the button Move into active heightlayer. (the 5th one from the left).

You can check the result by clicking the eyes in the layer list to enable/disable visualization of height layers.

Success!

Additional remark: when you add elements to the model, you have to make sure that the right height layer is activated. A height layer can be activated by clicking on the name in layer list.

Dear Marlies;
thank you for your kind help.
may i ask a few more question?
i attach my model.
i run my model and get errors: PD error 1200. ??!!
another question is :
i modeled 4 ticket-facility activities with an uniform distribution; but agents just attract to two of the four.why?

Hi,

The error says: PD error 1002: Invalid goal location
This usually means that agent's goal is not within the walkalbe space.

When you go to the Menu Display and then click Walkable Space, you'll see what's going wrong. The walkable space will be highlighted in light blue. In the model the ticket locations are not within this light blue spaces. To solve this, there are two options:

- Place the ticket locations in front of the obstacle, instead of overlapping the obstacle.
- Enable the option "Ensure walkable area" on the ticket locations. You'll find this option in the tab Location when you right click the ticket location.

Regards, Marlies

Hi
Does the PD have an "elevator" module? It should be a common component for such a simulation software :?:
