Save the output product

Post by Angeliki »

Hi, I want to save the output product which is an assembled product to use it in another model as an input product. Is it possible?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Angeliki,

Welcome to the forum!

Instead of using two separate models, you are able to merge two models. This can be done in the Ribbon > File > Merge. If, for some reason, this is not possible, you will have to transfer the relevant data between the models using Excel. In ED this can be done using the 'ExcelActiveX'-atom. An extensive tutorial on using ED in combination with Excel can be found in the Ribbon > Help > TutorialOverview > Working with Excel ActiveX atom.

I hope this helps!

Hi Gabe-Hein,

How can I use the Merge? Do you have any tutorials to see?
Thank you for your answer.

Hi Gabe-Hein,

I did the merge, but I want the models to be separate and in a different file. Could you explain to me how can I do it with the 'ExcelActiveX'-atom?
Thank you very much!

Hi Angeliki,

What you could consider is placing each model inside a 'Composition Container'-atom. If you open the Atom Editor (Ribbon > Tools > Atom Editor) you can save each composition container separately. Via the Atom Editor, tab Insert, you can load the models.

For the ExcelActiveX atom I advise to do the tutorial "Working with Excel ActiveX atom" as otherwise this post will be too long. If after the tutorial you still have specific questions, I will be happy to answer them.

Kind regards,

Hi Angeliki,

Did you already take a look at the Help-entry of the 'Composition Container'-atom? You can access the Help in the Ribbon > Help > 'Help Button'. If you type "Composition Container" in the search field you will get the correct entry.

If, after reading the Help-entry, you still have questions, I will be happy to answer them.

Hi Gabe-Hein,
I'm trying to connect the 'Composition Container'-atom with my model and can't find a way to put the output from the 'Composition Container'-atom as an input to my model or reverse. Is it possible?
