Windows User Account Control (UAC)

Post by MatthijsJongboer »

At this time, Enterprise Dynamics is compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7.
However, Enterprise Dynamics currently requires full, elevated administrative rights or UAC disabled.
To do this, make your user account member of the Administrators group.
To disable UAC go to the Control Panel and select User Accounts.
At the appropiate User Account settings select Turn User Account Control On or Off and switch it off.
When you have done this, Windows Vista or Windows 7 will ask you to reboot to apply the changes.
After rebooting, start the Enterprise Dynamics installation procedure and run the application.
We are aware of this problem and have developed Enterprise Dynamics to comply with the new Vista security system.

Because of the newly introduced security features in Windows Vista and Windows 7, including UAC (User Account Control), writing to the program files directory is not allowed. There is an alternative way to work with Enterprise Dynamics having UAC enabled. It is possible to right-click the application (ed.exe) and select 'Run as Administrator'. A more permanent way is to select under properties of ed.exe: Compatibility | Privilege | 'Run this program as an administrator'.
